Ipso Foto.com is an on-line community of folks who love photography, and enjoy being involved in the world of photography.

It's a place to share images, ideas, insights, stories, and knowledge.

The idea is to create a space where there is something for everyone involved in photography; the professional, as well as the new enthusiast; the traditional camera and darkroom worker, as well as the cutting edge digital worker.

Ansel Adams put it, "There are no rules for good photographs. There are just good photographs." That's good enough for us!

Membership is free of charge, and everyone is encouraged to participate, and to spread the word, helping the community to grow.

While there is no charge for Membership, obviously there are costs involved in maintaining any community.

Our plan is to support the community by offering advertising space to a select group of sponsors, as well as offering photographic goods for sale in our Marketplace section. We carefully select the items for sale, through affiliate programs with the most reputable vendors in the industry.

Making purchases in this way doesn't cost you more; in fact, we've done careful comparison shopping for you; but a small fee is paid to Ipso Foto.com, which helps support the program.

We regret the passing of the old neighborhood camera shop, where many of us recieved good service and advice to start us off properly. If you are fortunate enough to still have one of these near you, please support them with your business. If not, please consider us for your photographic needs. Ipso Foto.com was originally created by Steven Nestler, a photographer, and Cindy Lerner, his partner and muse.

Steven has been a photographer and photo educator for almost 40 years, and is deeply involved in many aspects of the photographic community. A love of sharing brought him to collaborate with Cindy, who for the past 20 years, has been contributing ideas and sharing burdens, as well as generally keeping him out of trouble.

Ipso Foto.com now has a wonderful panel of advisors, including some of America's best professional and fine art photographers, contributing their energy and ideas to make this the place for Photography Lovers to learn and grow.
